Jack Is Back

Not Jack, as in my brother or my dad, but rather Jack Bauer, as in 24.   That’s right, I’m a fan of the series 24 and I’m looking forward to the two hour movie tonight.   It’s almost like those days when the new season of Star Trek: The Next Generation would start.   The anticipation is exhilarating!   Like Thursday is when you know that CSI Las Vegas will be on.   I’m a big fan of that show too.   It’s always interesting when they show scenes in different places along the strip.   Those shots of the Las Vegas hotels make you want to go there.

So, just for the record, now you know I’m a Trekkie from back in the day to the original series.   A geek who enjoys a little Grissom observation on a Thursday night.   (It won’t be the same show without Grissom, but that’s for another post.)   And a woman who enjoys seeing the hero save the day just like Jack Bauer always does.

Not Another One!

What is it about Hollywood types?   They seem to have no common sense at all.   I heard yesterday that Kiefer Sutherland, a.k.a. Jack Bauer, was arrested for DUI.   Why is it that some people seem to think it’s okay to drink and drive?   With all the money that some Hollywood stars make you would think they could afford a cab or to hire a driver instead of driving while intoxicated?   Perhaps he should try one of those alcohol rehabs.

The Big Chill

I don’t envy those people who ran in the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon early this morning. We woke up to temperatures around 25 °F this morning and when we left for church around 10 o’clock it was about 35 °. I’m not used to temperatures that cold. I think our high today was in the 40s which is usually where our overnight low is. It’s going to be another freezing night tonight and probably tomorrow night as well. At least we don’t have snow or rain. Actually, if it rained it might be warmer.

Other than the cold temperatures it was a beautiful day. We had a nice service at church this morning with an inspiring message from Pastor Mark on how God seeks us out. “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” Luke 19:10 I’m really glad that God sought me out!

After lunch I spent the afternoon watching the Chargers play the Patriots. It was exciting until the end when the Chargers lost. Big bummer!

This evening Norm and I watched 24. For some reason it wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be. Perhaps tomorrow night will be better? It was still a good program, but perhaps there was too much hype leading up to it. Either that, or I’m getting used to expecting the unexpected from 24 and not been surprised by it anymore.

Well I’m going to bed now because somebody has to keep the cats warm. LOL actually they are the ones who keep me warm because I wake up in the morning with at least one of them curled up on my body. They make great legwarmers.

January is Coming…

…and that can mean only one thing — 24 Season Six!

Watch the official 24 Season Six Trailer.   (hat tip: The Royal Flush)

Now that’s what I call must-see TV!   Not sure why I like this show so much because I’m not into video games and shoot’em up kind of stories.   There’s just something about this series that I find entertaining as well as intellectually stimulating.   The twists and turns of the plot always keep me guessing and cause me to get so involved in the story line that each episode leaves me exhausted physically and mentally.   Chloe is my favorite character because she knows her stuff and is loyal to the cause of justice.

24 Day 5 5:00-7:00 a.m.

My mind is swirling with scenes from tonight’s two hour jampacked episode. There I was sitting next to my husband, wrapped up in a blanket to ward off the chill from the air conditioner, watching Jack Bauer come to the rescue of the nation once again. He was able to subdue the terrorists on the Russian submarine with the help of just three other people. What a great idea to wrap his knees around Bierko’s neck so he could snap it at just the right moment to give Henderson enough time to disable the missiles aimed at civilian targets in the US. (The only city they mentioned was San Francisco — interesting.) And then Henderson thought he could get away with killing Jack Bauer, but Bauer gave him a useless gun. He’s so smart!

Now Chloe has to go to work doing secret stuff for Bauer and we learned that she has an ex-husband named Morris. That was a total surprise. For a minute I thought he would turn out to be a bad guy, but I guess he still has a soft spot for Chloe and he knew better than to cross Jack Bauer.

Martha Logan turns out to be a hero and a pretty good actress. The look on her face when Logan was being arrested was awesome. The question is did she or didn’t she know about the bug when President Wiesel was roughing her up in the airport hangar? As that scene in a hangar progressed I surmised that Jack Bauer had planted a bug on President Wiesel. Chloe did a good job of getting everyone together at just the right moment, but then again she always does a pretty good job with stuff like that. She is the female high-tech version of Jack Bauer.

Of course just when Jack Bauer seems to be safe he never really is and the jig is up as soon as he says to Audrey that we have all the time we need to be together. As soon as he said that I knew something bad was about to happen. I suspect that the evil puppetmaster Graham is behind the kidnapping of Jack Bauer by the Chinese. Either that or President Wiesel made good on his promise to the evil puppetmaster that Jack Bauer would be taken care of. Either way I still think Graham has something to do with all of this.

Other unanswered questions. Bill Buchanan wants a date with Karen Hayes so will they ever get together? She will definitely be an ally for him at Homeland Security. Where is Audrey’s father? We know he is alive but what will he do about his forced resignation as secretary of defense? Will Morris be a returning character next season? He obviously possesses skills that CTU could utilize and it seems he worked there in the past. Will Secret Service agent Aaron Pierce be able to come out of hiding now that President Wiesel has been arrested?

And to think we have to wait until January 2007 to find out if Jack Bauer will be rescued from the Chinese or will he just escaped on his own? Ugg!
