My husband, Norm, and I are convinced there is a black hole in our house. Things randomly disappear and it drives us crazy. Take this morning for instance. Norm has a reacher grabber device that he uses to help pick up things off the floor so he doesn’t have to bend over. He used it first thing this morning to pick up his shoes off the floor so he could put them on. A few hours later he’s looking all over for it and can’t find it anywhere. Normally it’s in the bedroom, so I go in there to help them look for it. We looked everywhere! We looked in every room in the house. It was nowhere to be found. It’s nearly 3 feet long so how can it hide?
We were tossing things around and turning on lights everywhere so we could see in all the nooks and crannies. Maybe we need new lighting? A friend has recommended Kichler lighting. Anyhow, it seemed as if someone had just completely robbed us of Norm’s reacher.
So, not being able to help him actually looked into difficult places, I began to ask him exactly where he looked.
Me: Did you look under the bed?
Norm: Yes, twice.
Me: Did you look in the closet?
Norm: Yes, three times.
Me: Did you look behind your nightstand?
Norm: I’m not sure it could get back there.

GG the Rascal Cat
He goes into the bedroom and looks behind the nightstand. Low and behold, there it is! Now if we could only figure out who put it back there. My money’s on GG the cat.

So I’m getting dressed and into my wheelchair in the morning. I look up at the ceiling and notice a small gecko crawling around. I keep tabs on him throughout the morning and then forget all about him until bedtime. I don’t see him anywhere. I wonder where he went? Let’s just hope it wasn’t in our bed.

Ever since I can remember I’ve been fascinated with watching people make things. I like to know how things are made and see the tasks involved from the beginning to the end. It just so happens that one of my favorite television programs is How It’s Made on The Science Channel. I love how they use cad drawings in the program’s opening sequence. Whoever came up with this concept is very creative. The other day I learned how whistles, fiberglass boats and toilets are made. I suppose someday this knowledge may come in very handy.

The other day we were out somewhere and I saw an elderly woman who reminded me of my mother-in-law. Madeleine passed away a few years ago and I have many wonderful memories of her. She was a refined woman with a great sense of humor and a kind and generous heart. Whenever we would go to her home for a visit she loved to set the table for have tea or invite us over for dinner. She liked using her best China and monogrammed silverware. Fine linens by matouk graced her table. With all these one would think that she was a snobbish person, but that was far from the truth. Good manners and fine things were just a natural part of her life. Sometimes my husband and I really miss her.

So, I’m sitting here at my desk and looking at the piles of papers everywhere. It seems that I like to write notes on little slips of paper, but then I do not do anything with them. They begin to pile up. Then there are papers that come in the mail that I need to review and they end up scattered around the desk. Something tells me I need to find a document management system. Maybe I just need to clean my desk once in a while? Yes, I should do that, but I think I’ll get to it later.

It’s been a few years since my husband Norm retired. Would someone please let him in on the best franchise opportunities out there so that I can get him out of the house.
There’s no question that he’s a nice guy and we have fun together, but I sure would like to have some time to myself so that I can work on my top secret projects.
Norm just loves to look on the Internet at amateur radios or video cameras and come running down the hall and tell me all about them. I mean every little detail and sometimes he even brings pictures.
Please, get him out of the house! {grin}

Even with the temperature outside here in Scottsdale at 112, my husband was telling me how much fun it would be to have our patio expanded and an outdoor fireplace installed.
Our patio is simple, and has two fans so that we can at least attempt to cool it down a little during the summer months when we… I go outside. Norm, even though he talks about going out… stays inside more times than not.
It’s getting to that time of the year that after the sun does come down, being outside can be comfortable. That I really like. I wonder how serious he is about expanding the patio?

It won’t be long before Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be upon us. Usually I wait until early December to start thinking about holiday cards. Maybe this year I’ll be different? Maybe this year I’ll plan ahead and think about sending out cards long before the holidays?
Years ago I used to enjoy creating my own greeting cards. I would draw something cute and enhance it on the computer and then print it for my Christmas card. My family and friends enjoyed it. If I start now maybe I can come up with something for December. Let’s get our creative thinking cap on…
