I Want That Job

These days with the economy the way it is and jobs being scarce one would think that employees would think twice before upsetting their employers and getting themselves fired.   Well, apparently, if you’re a city manager, it’s not that big of a deal because you’ll get a fantastic severance package costing over $120,000.

What Palin brings to the health-care debate is the energy, wisdom, and wit to make complex ideas understandable to ordinary people. Let me once again restate my admiration for Charles Krauthammer before saying, with regrettably brutal candor, that Sarah Palin had more impact on the health-care debate with one Facebook note than everything Krauthammer has written in the past year. That’s not because people are shallow, and didn’t pay attention until Palin kicked off a media firestorm. It’s because they understandably seek out leadership on complex issues, and leaders have a knack for rendering fearfully complicated issues down to their essential truths.

Wendy Rogers, candidate for Arizona Senate District 17

This evening Norm and I were honored to meet Wendy Rogers.   She’s running for Arizona District 17’s Senate seat.   We talked to her for quite a while and I’m excited by what she is doing.   It’s not easy going door to door when it’s triple digits outside, but anybody who’s going to run for local office ought to meet the people who live in their district.   I like where she stands on the issues and her enthusiasm for using her experiences as a local business owner, Air Force pilot, wife and mother to bring some sensibility to our state legislature.   Check out Wendy’s website for more information.   I’m sure I’ll be blogging about her again.   Stay tuned for updates.

Car Dealers Waiting for Payment

If the government can’t manage its own Cash for Clunkers program what makes them think they will do any better on health care?   The truth is that no matter what the government tries to run its always a failure!   Just look at the post office, Social Security and Medicare.

Saturday there was a protest in Scottsdale regarding House Resolution 3200, a.k.a. ObamaCare.   Unfortunately I was not able to attend but I was definitely there in spirit.   Below are local reports:

I couldn’t find anything in the other paper we call The Arizona Repugnant.   The only local TV story I saw gave more air time to Obama than to the 1000 local residents of Phoenix who stood in the sun on an August Saturday to let their voices be heard.   I’m ashamed of our local media, but I’m not surprised.
