Family Focus

Growing up I was blessed with lots of cousins who I got to see every couple of years. As an adult in my 20s I spent a lot of time with a few of my cousins who lived near me in San Diego. One of them was my cousin Vony. It’s been about eight years since we last saw each other so when she told me she was coming to Arizona from Washington state this month I was so excited to know that we would get to spend a few hours together. She and her husband, Jim, drove up today from Tucson, where his family lives, on their way to visit other family in San Diego. We had lunch together at one of my favorite local eateries, Patsy Grimaldi’s pizza.

Our family is spread apart from coast to coast so it’s hard to see each other as often as we would like. And with gas prices these days so high because of the stupidity of politicians who have made it nearly impossible to build new refineries or drill for oil in places like Alaska where we have so much oil, it’s financially hard to travel long-distance by plane or automobile.

I’m hoping to make a trip or two this year to my family in San Diego. It’s a 6 hour drive so that’s a lot of fuel. I’ve been wondering how we could make our vehicle more fuel efficient. I saw an ad somewhere on the Internet that suggested you should add water to your gas tank, but I’m sure that’s no good. I wondered if putting rear spoilers on our van would help? I understand they not only look cool but can reduce drag and increase fuel efficiency. One never knows!

How about adding a Jet Engine?
