It’s Starting to Get to Me

The last couple of days have been rather gloomy around here weatherwise. Today is worse than yesterday with a thick layer of clouds, no ounce of sunshine, and yet not one drop of rain. Tomorrow they’re predicting rain in the evening and probably on Saturday too. It’s not cold because this is a weather system coming up from the tropics. It just looks really cold out and with no sunshine I start to feel down in the dumps and depressed. This kind of weather makes me think about things I would never do, like snow skiing. It just looks like it’s going to snow any minute. If it did I would probably want to be wearing something warm and protective like volcom clothing.

Back when I was in high school I went skiing by accident. My motorized wheelchair was the kind that had belt driven motors and wheels. The belts would pop off at random and I would lose control of the wheels. Once while visiting the St. Louis zoo I was going down a steep hill when a belt popped off one of my motors. There I went freewheeling down a hill screaming after my family who were a few yards ahead of me. I careened right into a bunch of parked baby strollers. Not a fun experience!

The truth is I don’t like snow and that’s why I live in Scottsdale where it doesn’t snow. So, with the prospect of no sun for the next few days, I’m needing a real pick me up. Any suggestions?

Why don’t you try some Chai tea?

Living in an area of the country where just the appearance of the sun breaking through the clouds can be a big event, I don’t know what to tell you except “Count Your Blessings”!!!

However, I will tell you that skiing and snow up in the mountains is fun, if you don’t mind crashing quite a bit at first. Somehow, when you are out skiing it doesn’t seem quite as gloomy and cold as identical conditions when you have to go to work.

Having very Large and Long bones, I never wanted or followed up on Skiing, even though my parents gave me Skis one year for Christmas.

No, just the thought today of coming crashing down a Colorado Mountiain side into a tree, SCARES ME TO DEATH!!

Close all the blinds/curtains and turn on all the lights. Play some uplifting music and pretend you are in Hawaii on vacation.

If that doesn’t work just remember we all love you and the sun does shine here 99% of the time. It will return soon!!!!!
