He Wants to Give Me Nickels?

Have you ever had one of those days when just cannot focus on much?   A day where you cannot get beyond staring in the mirror thinking about ridiculous things like getting rid of blackheads?   I had a day like that a few days ago.   So, I decided I needed to get out of the house and do something fun.

Norm and I went to Chick-fil-A for lunch because it is a fun thing to do now and then.   He was excited seeing all the little fire engine displays advertising their new spicy chicken sandwich, which he ordered for the first time.   After talking with one of the owners for a few minutes at the counter, we ordered our lunch and headed for a table.

It was a bit crowded, so I turned around carefully trying to navigate through all the people around me.   I stopped suddenly when a little boy, probably about four years old, stepped right in front of me.   He reached out his hand toward my left hand.   (Now you have to understand something first, my left hand doesn’t do much, so most of the time it is laying on my lap in a fist position.)   Just as I was about to say something to the little boy, his mother said to me that he liked my wheelchair and wanted to give me nickels.   What?   Did I understand that right?   Suddenly his fist reached for my fist (my left hand laying on my lap) and then I realized that his mother actually said, “he wants to give you knuckles.”   LOL, how sweet is that?   As quickly as it happened, he took off and out the door they went.   I laughed about it for the rest of the day.   Just what I needed!
