Mouth Calisthenics
A few weeks ago Norm and I were helping out a friend with a fun project. We were reading a script and playing different characters. Norm is good at this sort of thing, but it’s not something I do except once in a blue moon. So we are rehearsing and trying to record and I kept mispronouncing words. These were not even hard words, but sometimes words just don’t roll off the tongue all that well. So I decided that if I was going to make a practice of doing voice overs (which I’m not), I should probably perform mouth calisthenics.
I think it would be a good way to exercise one’s tongue. Practice saying words that are often difficult to pronounce. Words like supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Mephibosheth, mesothelioma, onomatopoeia, sclerotherapy, hullabaloo, and flibbertigibbet. You get the idea — you just say these kind words over and over again and pretty soon you could pronounce anything.
That is a good game for my litlest Granddotter — I think she’d love it!
