Word Playing Again
So I’m watching TV the other day and this commercial comes on demonstrating a home steam cleaner. I started thinking about the words steam cleaner. I realize it’s describing a machine that cleans using steam. For some reason though I think of it as something that cleans steam. Now why would one want to do that? Steam is already clean. (Yes, it’s crazy I know! Blame it on the heat.)
It reminds me of the standard traffic sign that talks about dawdling street crossers (“SLOW PEDESTRIAN XING). Actually, that one could use further refinement as to other meanings of XING…
