Obsessions
When I was a child I enjoyed drawing and painting. Just give me some paper and a pencil and I was content. My mother had taught me three-dimensional drawing when I was probably about eight or nine years old. One of the subjects I liked to draw was mailboxes. I don’t know why I was obsessed with mailboxes for a time, but something about them fascinated me. Somewhere in a box in the back of a closet there are collections of my artwork.
Maybe it was because the mail would bring cards from my grandmas and aunts? My great grandmother would send us cards and letters all the time, and since we lived far away from her, the mailbox was our connection. Oh those are fond memories deep in the recesses of my mind.
I so love your drawings.
I’d like to see some of your drawings — get Norm to dig in that closet!
As for mailboxes, I too am fascinated with them — especially the
great variety you see these days. Plus the fact that there’s some outfit
making $$ by creating and selling seasonal mailbox wallpaper!
