What Happened on Your Birthday?

Granny J. of Walking Prescott, Arizona has tagged me to play the birthday game.   My birthday is October 16, so I hunted for the following information:
(Wikipedia is a great place to get the lowdown on a date in history.)

Three events
1781 — George Washington captures Yorktown, Virginia
1793 — Marie Antoinette loses her head.
1922 — the Walt Disney Co. is founded by Walt Disney and his brother, Roy Disney.

Two birthdays
1886 — David Ben-Gurion, first prime minister of Israel
1931 — Charles Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship after experiencing his own time in prison for his participation in the Watergate conspiracy.   He’s one of my favorite writers and teachers.

One death
1992 — actress Shirley Booth known as maid Hazel in the popular television series of the 1960s.   Hazel was one of my favorite TV shows as a child.

One holiday
October 16th is known as Boss’s Day — naturally!

I’m tagging the following bloggers to play along: my hubby — NormRadio, my new blog son — CJdotcom, my blog mom — Mountaineer Musing SarahK, my blog sis — PatsPond, and new blog acquaintance — ScottSandsAlive.

Wikipedia did well by you, Karen! It’s funny I didn’t think of it at all…I love the little tidbits of history that one learns from an exercise like this!
