Midlife Crisis

A couple of weeks ago I told you I was getting glasses because my vision has succumbed to the over 40 stage of life. After several trials with a progressive lens pair and then trifocals I am now sporting a pair of bifocal glasses. As promised, here’s a photograph of me wearing my lenses for you to laugh at.

The fact that I can see better is the only good thing about wearing glasses. I don’t like these frames at all and people at the store were of no help in choosing appropriate frames for my face and my needs. It’s going to be quite a while before I can afford to buy another pair of glasses, but I’ve already decided they’re going to be huge frames, like something from the 1980s. I can’t stand having the frame of my lenses right in the view of my eyes. How can people wear those tiny little frames that you see all over today?

OK enough about that! When I turned 40 a few years ago I thought it would cool to finally be an age where people take you seriously. I’ve always enjoyed getting older, but with changes in my vision and my body that had come with the 40s, I can honestly say I don’t like being this age. With all the physical changes one goes through during a midlife crisis I’m actually considering progesterone cream among other health remedies. If I were a wealthy man I would probably be buying a red sports car right now!

Update 4:18pm: Norm suggested I go back to the store and let them know what was bothering me about my glasses.   James, the manager at the Wal-Mart vision center, was very nice and help me choose a better pair of frames that fit my face and my eyes.   Wal-Mart wants me to be happy with my glasses so I don’t have to pay extra for the new ones.   Maybe wearing glasses won’t be so bad after all?   I’ll post a new picture in a couple of weeks when the new pair comes in.

I started wearing specs two years ago for distance viewing. I chose a narrow-framed black pair of Ray Bans that are quite stylish. I decided that if I needed glasses, I might as well look cool in them. You wear yours very well from what I can see in that ridiculously tiny photo you posted. LOL

You look great! As a matter of fact I bet most people will not even notice. They’ll prbably think you have always worn them. (That is a compliment)
