Don’t Scratch That

I read about this new French inspired bakery restaurant in Scottsdale called Scratch Pastries. After I read a newspaper article I knew we had to visit this place because it sounded really good. Norm read the article too and when he saw that they served vichyssoise (chilled potato soup) he decided we had to go there as well since his mother used to make it. We headed there for lunch the other day and it did not disappoint. It’s located near where Norm’s mother used to live, in a shopping center on Miller Road at Indian School Road.

Norm ordered the vichyssoise and it came with organic greens and thin slices of sourdough bread. After I tasted it I knew I should have ordered the soup instead of my quiche Lorraine. Next time we go back I’ll get the vichyssoise! The funny part was we ordered our food and waited for it to be brought to our table, but they brought our dessert first since it was already prepared. I can’t remember what it was called, but it was a delicious pastry filled with pistachio cream and Italian cherries. So good!

Oh dear, if we visit this place too often I’m going to have to look into weight loss solutions. Instead of being concerned about the price of croissants maybe I should be looking into the cost of Phentermine 37.5 mg. (Don’t worry I’m just kidding — I have no intention of eating that much.)

Sounds heavenly. My mum is an excellent French cook and I miss those wonderful, creamy, buttery, … Let’s not get that started!

Let me just note that, except for the occasional onion soup, my parents can no longer eat such rich stuff.

    Neither can I.

    Bon apetite!
