Oh My Aching Arm

Sometimes when I spend too much time on the computer I get a lot of pain in my right shoulder, arm and wrist.   I’m right-handed and the mouse is always moving, thus my arm is always moving.   I do my best to practice ergonomic computing, but repetitive stress takes its toll eventually.   The past few days I have even felt as if I might be suffering from fibromyalgia.   Over the years I’ve known a few acquaintances who have suffered from that illness and from what they tell me it causes extreme muscle aches and pains.   Someone once told me that it hurts to hug when you have such sore muscles.   Fortunately I don’t have fibromyalgia, but I do feel compassion for those who suffer from it.

The best thing I can do to ease my aching arm is to get away from the computer more often and get a chiropractic adjustment when necessary.   It does the trick and I’m feeling a lot better today.

I have wondered if there might not be a mouse equivalent of carpal tunnel syndrome — I already have a bit of arthritis in my right thumb down near the wrist & after playing on my computer for an hour or so, I really feel it….
