3 Police Cars, an Ambulance and a Fire Truck

That’s what I saw on my living room window this afternoon. Immediately I went outside to see what was going on and looking across the street I saw the neighbor’s 20-year-old son being put into an ambulance. He didn’t really look hurt, except for the stabilizing collar around his neck. It seemed odd because I had just seen him about 10 minutes earlier. We had just arrived home and when I got out of the van to go into the house, I saw him standing in his driveway. He looked fine. I immediately went into the house and headed for the bathroom. When I came out of the bathroom and went down the hall toward the living room that’s when I saw the emergency vehicles.

What could have happened so quickly? I waited outside to speak with one of the police officers after everyone left. All he would tell me is that the young man tried to harm himself, but he would be OK. He was going to the emergency room for medical and psychiatric evaluation.

Unfortunately this is not the first time that the police had been called by this young man’s mother. All I know for sure is that he needs help. Drug rehab would be a good start, but he ultimately needs God. I pray for him often.
