Don’t Scratch That

I read about this new French inspired bakery restaurant in Scottsdale called Scratch Pastries. After I read a newspaper article I knew we had to visit this place because it sounded really good.

The Kindness of Strangers

This past week Norm took me on a date to try out a new fast food eatery in Mesa.   It’s called Culver’s and they’ve been around for eons in places like Wisconsin and other Midwestern states.   It was really crowded at lunch time on a Wednesday afternoon so we had to wait for a table to open after we had ordered our food at the counter.   I went out onto the covered patio to look for an available table, but they were all taken so I just sat there and waited for an open table.   The  outdoor dining furniture was not what you would find at most fast food places and it looked more like folding round tables and chairs one would find at a VFW hall.   Since they only opened a week ago, I guess the traditional patio furniture hadn’t arrived yet.

After a few minutes of me just sitting there, two kind ladies offered to share their very large table with me.   Wasn’t that sweet?   Norm came out with our drinks and found me sitting with two old ladies.   He had a strange look on his face, but once I explained to him their kind offer, he warmed up.

I wish I could say the food was really good, but what I ordered was not.   I had chili cheese fries and they were the worst ones I’ve ever had in my life!   It was a cold tomato paste, not chili. Norm had a hamburger and said it was good.   We decided to try their frozen custard and it was delicious!   So I may go back just for that.

Family Focus

Growing up I was blessed with lots of cousins who I got to see every couple of years. As an adult in my 20s I spent a lot of time with a few of my cousins who lived near me in San Diego. One of them was my cousin Vony.

Yummy Dessert Idea

Oh it’s so delicious!   I just invented a really easy dessert or sweet snack.   Take chocolate graham crackers and spread ready-made cream cheese frosting on top.   Wow — so easy and so tasty!   Cream cheese frosting in a can is all you need, so don’t try making it yourself.   Unless of course you like to do that sort of thing.

Dream On

Wienerschnitzel is one of my favorite fast food hangouts. We went there for lunch today to get my usual mustard dog, french fries and a Pepsi. Sometimes I mix it up and get relish on my hot dog. While we were sitting there enjoying our yummy lunch I noticed the paper liner on the serving tray. It said something about franchise opportunities available. Hmm… wouldn’t that be fun?

Red Robin

I have become a Red Robin junkie since they opened a new restaurant near us at the new Tempe Marketplace off of McClintock Road just south of Loop 202. I’m sure that tells all of you who live outside of Phoenix Metro exactly where I’m talking about. 😉
