Gift Conundrum

When trying to buy a gift for someone I usually think of something that person needs or wants and try to get that for them.   Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn’t, especially when the things they want or need are rather expensive.   Then there is the person who has everything.   How do you find a gift for someone like that?   A custom-built car like a Mercedes would be nice, but that’s not something I can afford.   Oh, here’s an idea… how about custom mouse pads?   Now that’s something I can afford and almost everyone can use one of those.   Problem solved.

Vacation story part five finds Norm and I visiting the ocean.   There’s something quite special about seeing the ocean when you don’t live anywhere near one.   San Diego has some very dramatic ocean views.   My dad took us to Sunset Cliffs one afternoon and it was spectacular to see the waves crashing in on the rocks below us.

Decisions, Decisions

Today was my birthday and all in all it’s been a pretty good day.   Went to Denny’s for my free grand slam breakfast.   Yummy.   I’ve got several coupons I have received by e-mail to visit three or four other restaurants and receive discounts or free meals for my birthday.   Hopefully I won’t eat too much or I might need some appetite suppressant pills.

Now I’ve got to figure out where to go tomorrow.   Decisions, decisions.

For most of my life I’ve been an observer.   I like to watch what’s going on around me and I’m very aware of my environment.   I notice things, sometimes things other people don’t notice and would rather I didn’t.   I can’t help it — I’m just observant.   Maybe it was that morning we had a fire drill in third-grade and our teacher urged us to always pay attention to the exit signs so we would know how to get out of a building in case of fire.   Or, maybe it was this book from my childhood that inspired me?   To this day I enjoy observing.   Wish I could find a way to make money at it…

Tomorrow I will be another year older.   I figured out that I will be exactly the same age my grandmother was the day I was born.   Incredible!   I can’t imagine being a grandmother at my age when I don’t even have any children.
