Just Looking

The other day my Man and I went to our local home improvement store on a whim.  We got in the store and started looking around.  He wanted to look at hand-held shower heads to see if we could afford to replace the one we have now.  Home improvement stores are a lot of fun to look around and I couldn’t help but notice the bathroom vanities.  They actually look like high-end furniture these days.  Oh wouldn’t it be nice to upgrade our bathroom!  For now I’m just looking.

In a New York State of Mind

Sometimes when my husband and I are involved in some mundane chore we like to talk about silly things.   The other day he was helping me get dressed and we were discussing our recent conversation with his daughter.   She lives in New York City and it’s been almost a year since we’ve seen her.   I know he misses her a lot even though they talk by phone several times a month.   He told me that he would love for us to go visit her one day.   I suggested it would be fun surprise for her.   We could book a room at one of those hotels on 5th Avenue and invited her to stay with us for a few days.   She could give us a tour of New York City and take us to a Broadway show.   Sure, we’re only daydreaming, but wouldn’t it be fun.

Muscleman

Sometimes I think were I not disabled I would have been a carpenter because I love watching do-it-yourself home improvement shows. One of my favorites is Holmes on Homes which showcases this contractor from Canada named Mike Holmes. He comes in and helps people with home renovation gone bad because of shady contractors. One thing I’ve noticed is that he’s a rather muscular guy. Most carpenters don’t look that way, so I’m wondering if perhaps he uses hgh supplements. Either way, he’s fun to watch and I’ve learned a lot from his program. It’s too bad I don’t have all the money in the bank necessary to hired him to renovate my home. Sigh.

Always thinking of adding.

It’s me, once again, Karen’s Husband Norm filling in for her as our kitchen still has the fans and they are making too much noise for her to use her microphone to dictate her blogs.   I on the other hand, do it the old fashion way, one finger at a time.

We have a leak in the wall behind the kitchen sink and dishwasher, and the pipes will be repaired and most likely the floor replaced with new tile.   Long story, you don’t want to know.   Just take my word for it.

But I have to tell you, it gets me thinking about all the things that would be fun to do to our house.   It’s one built in the 60s, and at first glance it looks pretty much as it did when it was built.   Now the appliances have been modernized and replaced.   The carpet replaced with title and the glass replaced as well.

We have blinds in all the windows, and I have to tell you with the kitchen the way it is, I have been thinking that faux wood blinds would go very nicely, thank you very much.

That’s me though, always thinking about how neat things would look in our house.   I guess instead of calling me “Norm”, you could call me “Remodel Ron”.

Vacation Dreams

Oh, how I want a vacation!   My annual vacation is spent in San Diego staying with my family.   I have yet to be able to go this year and quite frankly it’s rough but I’m handling it okay.   Since Norm and I got married we only had one real vacation and that was two nights in Sedona about nine years ago.   Since then we’ve only been able to visit my family in San Diego when we want to get away.   I’m not sure Norm considers it a real vacation since he has to spend it with his in-laws.   🙂

My Dream Kitchen

Last year a friend was telling me about remodeling she had done on her kitchen.   New granite countertops with an undermount sink, new cabinets with wine racks and upgraded lighting were among her favorite aspects of the redesign.   Since I don’t spend much time in our own kitchen, I began to ponder what would my dream kitchen look like?   Would I choose wallpaper or paint?   Granite countertops or marble?   The more I thought about it the more I realized my dream kitchen would have one thing — a very good chef.
