Deep in the Heart of Texas

One of my dad’s sisters did some research on our family history many years ago and discovered that we are ancestors of one of the original founders of the state of Texas.   That means I qualified for membership in the prestigious Daughters of the Republic of Texas.   I’m not much of a joiner, but I do like Texas.   I’ve visited Texas many times in my life and I wouldn’t mind visiting there again.   San Antonio was beautiful and Dallas was quite interesting.   I have friends that live near Dallas so if I were interested in visiting there I would definitely take a look online for Dallas Texas hotels.   I remember years and years ago visiting the Galleria which was the largest and fanciest shopping mall I had ever seen in my life up to that time.   I think if I was going to Dallas these days I probably want to visit there again.   What else should I do in Dallas?

Then I could get a badge from the Texas Rangers…..to match my Arizona Highway Patrol Badge. That would be cool.

Joseph St. Pierre was his name. He was one of Austin’s group that settled Texas. His name is on a monument in Houston – so I am told – I have not seen it.

You might want to check out the Texas School Book Depository, the building from which someone (Lee Harvey Oswald?) shot President Kennedy.

For sure, go to the old stockyards in Fort Worth. Old west charm and some of the best steaks in Texas (if you go to the right places).
