It was nice this morning so I decided to go for a walk in the neighborhood. It’s interesting what you see decorating people’s homes right now. Halloween decorating is the thing this month. You won’t find any decorations for Halloween at my house so I enjoyed seeing what others have done. Norm and I are still debating about passing out candy this year. We haven’t done it for a couple of years because we don’t get that many trick-or-treaters. There seems to be a big community event at one of the nearby parks, so why bother? (more…)

Birthday Recap Part Two
October 21, 2008 by Karen of Scottsdale
OK, I bet you’ve been waiting for this one! Norm, my often wonderful husband, arranged a birthday celebration for me with some of our friends at Norm’s favorite restaurant, the Pink Taco. We got there early to make sure the table seating arrangement was just right, but we could have gotten there late because (more…)

Birthday Recap
October 18, 2008 by Karen of Scottsdale
My birthday turned out to be a rather fun day. I used my Red Robin free birthday burger coupon and it was delicious. Normally they give you a sundae on your birthday but I requested a banana shake. All of my favorite servers and management staff at the Tempe Red Robin gathered around to sing happy birthday to me. A couple of them told me if they had known ahead of time it was my birthday they would’ve ordered a cake. Isn’t that sweet? (more…)

Half Her Age
October 15, 2008 by Karen of Scottsdale
Tomorrow I will be another year older. I figured out that I will be exactly the same age my grandmother was the day I was born. Incredible! I can’t imagine being a grandmother at my age when I don’t even have any children. (more…)

The Ups and Downs
October 12, 2008 by Karen of Scottsdale
It’s not so good to watch the news anymore. Everything is bad as far as the media is concerned. Especially when you look at the stock market. I do not own any investments in stocks or bonds so on the one hand I’m not personally affected by all that I hear these days. However, according to the nightly news everything is bad and people are in panic mode. When people panic they can be misled into doing foolish things. (more…)

Do We Really Want Government Run Health Care?
October 9, 2008 by Karen of Scottsdale
My friend Richard sent me this letter from his friend Tom who is a barrister (lawyer) in England. They are amateur astronomy buds. Tom has lived with the National Health Service all his life and knows first hand the dangers of socialist medicine. (more…)

The Day After
October 8, 2008 by Karen of Scottsdale
OK, I don’t know about you but last night’s town hall meeting was rather depressing, not to mention boring and downright stupid at times! Listening to it gave me a headache and made me start to think perhaps I should find more ways to cut spending at home since the government’s going to take more money from all of us if Obama is elected. I wonder if taking diet pills would cut back on the food budget? (Just a thought folks.)
And then blogger friend and fellow conservative, LaShawn Barber, found this gem of the video that not only brightens my day but gives hope that there are still smart people out there who really get it despite all of the indoctrination they have suffered under. You’ve got to watch the entire thing. Not only is it intelligent, it’s downright humorous! I’ve always believed that true intelligence finds humor in the least likely of places. Enjoy it and pass it on.
