Good Friday Invitation
This day we commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus. During his crucifixion Jesus prayed the prayer from Psalm 22 which you can read online by clicking the link. Though Jesus cries of abandonment by God, it is not as my friend George points out, “… the cry of the damned, who are eternally forsaken by God because of their lack of repentance. Rather, it is the cry of the redeemed who, finding themselves in the grip of evildoers, hope for their eventual rescue by God, whether in this life or the life to come. It is this hope that sustained Jesus on the cross.”
This is the hope that sustains me. Do you have this hope?
So as the Apostle Paul reminds us in Hebrews 12:2 “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before you endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Amen!
It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming! The day we remember the resurrection power of Jesus. That power is available for our day-to-day challenges when we trust in that power. If you live near Scottsdale I’d like to invite you to attend church with me and Norm this Sunday at 5pm, or any Sunday, at E3 Church. No need to be or look perfect, come as you are. Be sure and look for us and introduce yourself. You can sit with us if you’d like. (I’m easy to spot in a crowd.)
