The last couple of days have been rather gloomy around here weatherwise. Today is worse than yesterday with a thick layer of clouds, no ounce of sunshine, and yet not one drop of rain. (more…)

On Saturday the husband and I attempted our DIY Christmas photo in our effort to be green and all that. You can read his account of the events on his blog. We’re going to try again today as we scout out Scottsdale real estate for the perfect spot.
I think this time it’s going to work because it’s a cloudy day and that’s the way it always happens. The sun shines here 90% of the time but we’ll have a good photo op on a cloudy day.

Yesterday I decided to visit the virtual world Second Life. I created an avatar and tried to complete the tutorials so I would have the ins and outs of how to move around and communicate and change my appearance and build things. (more…)

Although I love to watch cooking shows I’m not a cook by any means unless you count microwave ovens. Come to think of it you don’t see too many TV chefs showing you how to make dinner with the microwave. Back in the day when I was a lot stronger physically and a bit more independent than I am now, (more…)

An attitude of gratitude makes life so much better. When I’m ungrateful I feel miserable, so I endeavor to live my life by giving thanks for what I have. As I read this week’s chapter in the devotional, “Living Each Day in Jesus’ Name”, it reminded me that as a follower of Jesus giving should be a priority in my life. Giving reminds me that God is the source of all I have.
My life would not be the same without God’s presence and so I am grateful for his presence through the good and the bad, the easy and the hard times. God did not promise me all would be rosy, but he does promise to be with me as I go through life’s trials and tribulations. This year I have experienced his grace and his mercy through some difficult situations. Being on the other side of some of those difficult times I can look back and see how much I have learned to trust Him.
I give thanks for my husband who is my friend and lovingly cares for me. I give thanks for my family and my friends who have brought something special into my life. I am thankful for a home and food on the table.
I am thankful for the Internet and this blog and all the wonderful new friends I have made through it.
May you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and may you find much in your life for which to be thankful.

Our English language and the meaning of words is constantly changing. Some words, like e-mail and Google, didn’t even exist in our vocabulary until a few years ago. Here’s a word I ran across the other day — fiber cable. I know what this but if someone had mentioned that word to me 30 years ago I would have thought they were talking about macramé. Remember macramé? It was all the rage back in the 70s. I don’t think most young people today know what macramé is, but they know about fiber cable.
